Sophisticated Investors

In the UK, only ‘sophisticated investors’ and high net worth individuals (HNWIs) can be sold unlisted securities.  To self-certify as a HNWI you need an annual income of £100K or liquid assets (not property or DB pensions) of £250K.

To self-certify as a sophisticated investor you need experience of angel investment, private equity or unlisted securities, or you must be a director of a company with annual turnover of > £1M.
