Have you found any issues with Google Finance ?
I tried using it a earlier this year with Google Sheets. For some companies large amounts of data is missing for several days… There was a reddit thread on it in /r/ukinvesting.
I suppose depending on the amount of data missing, it could affect the analysis.
Nice write up though !
Hi Michael,
There was definitely a problem over this summer, but it wasn’t Google Finance specific. One of the LSE’s data partners had problems with their interface, and stock data was missing on lots of sites. It’s certainly a problem for some kinds of analysis.
I have found Google Finance to be extremely useful over the years, but I’m reserving judgment at the moment. A new release is planned for next month, and the Portfolios (one of my favourite features) are being removed.
I’m using Stockopedia for now, but would welcome suggestions of alternatives.
Mike
